Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is facing a civil lawsuit from a former girlfriend who accuses him and two friends of drugging and sexually assaulting her. Rose and his attorney strongly deny the claims, which are unproven.
The woman, who is identified only as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, says she dated Rose for a period of time and that the alleged incident happened about two years ago. She claims she was drugged and later assaulted by Rose and two of his friends. She says shame and embarrassment kept her from filing sooner. According to ABC7, she never went to police and has not filed a criminal complaint. The case is a civil suit.
Through a spokesperson, Rose acknowledged that he had a relationship with the woman that was not exclusive, but denied any wrongdoing. His attorney, Mark Baute, called the allegations “completely false and without any factual basis,” said the suit is an attempt to get money from a successful athlete, and said he expects the case to be dismissed.
Rose has not been charged with any crime. Baller Alert will follow the case as it develops.
