Women are flocking to purchase the “designer vagina,” but it’s not for the reason that you may think.
Ultra-fitting leggings have become an embarrassment for women because of the fear of having a “camel toe.” This has caused a significant increase in sales for the medical procedure called labiaplasty.
A labiaplasty is a procedure where the labia minor, also known as the flaps on a vagina, is shrunken. The surgery typically costs women approximately $4,000 and is becoming more popular daily.
Dr. John Skevofilax, a chief surgeon at Signature Clinics, said he performed the surgery only 50 times last year. However, he now says he’s surpassed that number this month. Skevofilax states that most of his patients complain of pain and discomfort stemming from leggings and tight athleisure clothing.
Even though the surgery may have excellent pros, it can also have some discomforting cons. One woman revealed she lost sensation in her vagina due to a botched labiaplasty.
“Women should be able to wear whatever they want to wear,” Skevofilax said. “If they choose tight clothing, for instance, yoga pants, because they are following a specific fashion trend or just because it’s simply more fitting for this type of exercise, they should be able to do so without anxiety and a bite of the lip’ of what’s to come.”
