Desiigner Catches Domestic Case in South Carolina Right During Comeback Run

Desiigner was arrested in South Carolina this week on a domestic violence charge. Authorities in Horry County confirmed that Desiigner, born Sidney Royel Selby III, was taken into custody Monday on a third-degree charge. The offense is classified as a misdemeanor, and he was released on Tuesday.

Investigators have not identified any alleged victim or provided details about the situation. Because of that, it remains unclear whether additional charges could follow. There are also no confirmed court dates at this time, so the case is still unfolding.

The timing stands out because Desiigner has been working to rebuild momentum in music. After his breakout with “Panda” in 2016, he has recently dropped new records, including “Relax,” which arrived this week. However, this arrest now shifts attention away from his return.

This is not his first legal issue. In 2023, federal authorities charged him following an incident on a flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis. Investigators said he exposed himself during the flight, which caused a disturbance on board.

He later resolved that case through a legal agreement that included 120 hours of community service, a $5,000 fine, and two years of probation. Afterward, he spoke about his mental health.

“I was not okay,” he said in a statement at the time. “I had a chemical imbalance from medication and needed real help.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
