On Tuesday (June 2), Dick Wolf announced that he had fired a recently hired writer, Craig Gore, a day after he took to social media to post about “lighting looters up.” Last month (May 6), Gore revealed that he was hired by Wolf to assist on the Law & Order: SVU spinoff series starring Christopher Meloni, who played Detective Elliot Stabler on the long-running show. He previously worked as an executive producer of SWAT, and as a co-executive producer on another Wolf series, Chicago P.D.

On Monday, while protests were occurring in West Hollywood, Gore posted a picture of himself in black, armed with what appeared to be a large firearm. Underneath the photo, Gore wrote:

“Sunset is being looted two blocks from me. You think I won’t light motherfuckers up who are trying to fuck w/ my property I worked all my life for? Think again…”

The following day, he was fired. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Wolf said:

“I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief. I am terminating Craig Gore immediately.”

Drew Janda, an associate producer at NBC Universal, the company behind all Wolf’s series, tweeted a mini collage of Gore’s messages to Meloni. With it, he captioned: “Ayy @Chris_Meloni your new showrunner is a proud boy.”

The tweet received hundreds of retweets and assisted in the quick decision by Wolf to fire Gore.

Hours later, Meloni responded to the Janda’s post by stating:

“Truth: Matt Olmstead is my Showrunner. I have gotten no word on ANY hiring. I have no idea who this person is or what they do.”
