Diddy is facing another legal battle. This time, he’s accused of orchestrating a dangerous car chase nearly three decades ago, supposedly to intimidate a man on the streets of New York City.

The lawsuit, filed on November 3rd by DeWitt Gilmore, claims that in 1996, Diddy and a crew confronted Gilmore as he was leaving a nightclub, hurling threats and brandishing guns. According to the suit, what started as taunts quickly escalated into terror when members of Diddy’s entourage allegedly began waving firearms and even firing shots. Gilmore recalls the frantic escape that ensued, saying he and his companions raced through city streets in a desperate attempt to evade the attackers, barely escaping a “potentially deadly ambush.”

The suit’s resurfacing of a witness from that night has reignited Gilmore’s pursuit of justice, with this newly discovered testimony cited as pivotal evidence. Gilmore is now demanding $5 million in damages, claiming the experience caused emotional and physical harm, damaged his reputation, and led to lost opportunities.

This revelation comes when the Bad Boy founder’s reputation is already taking a nosedive.  Miami Beach recently revoked the ceremonial key the city had awarded him in 2015, a decision unanimously backed by the city’s commissioners. In response to Gilmore’s suit, Diddy’s reps dismissed it as another “publicity stunt” and assured that the truth would prevail in court.
