Diddy just scored another legal win, and this time, the court says the paperwork was simply too late. A New York judge has officially dismissed a civil sexual battery lawsuit filed against him earlier this year, ruling the statute of limitations had already expired by the time the claim was brought.

The lawsuit was filed by a man who said he was 23 years old in 2015, trying to break into the music industry. He claimed he landed a performance opportunity at a Los Angeles nightclub where Diddy was present. According to the suit, the man was given a drink, blacked out, and woke up to Diddy engaging in “unwanted sexual contact.” He also said Diddy threatened his career if he didn’t go along with it.

But the judge didn’t weigh in on the allegations themselves. Instead, she ruled the case couldn’t proceed because it was filed too late. New York had a five-year limit at the time of the alleged assault, and the judge explained that a 2019 law extending the deadline to 20 years doesn’t apply retroactively.

The plaintiff also sued Diddy’s companies, Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Enterprises, but those claims were dismissed as well.

This marks another civil case in Diddy’s favor as he continues to fight multiple legal battles. While several lawsuits have been thrown out, others remain active. He’s still in jail and is expected to learn his fate in his federal criminal case on October 3rd. He was found guilty of prostitution charges but acquitted of the more serious counts related to sex trafficking.
