Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team is fighting back in his ongoing sex trafficking case, requesting the court reveal the identities of his accusers. In a motion filed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court, Diddy’s attorneys argued that knowing the identities of the alleged victims is crucial for the music mogul to adequately prepare his defense for the upcoming trial, set for May 5.

The letter, signed by attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, outlines their position, claiming that the sheer volume of allegations against Combs is a result of his high-profile status, wealth, and past legal controversies. They argue that the intense media attention, along with alleged grand jury leaks and statements by federal agents, has created what they describe as a “ripple effect” that has fueled numerous accusations, some of which they claim are “false” and “outright absurd.”

“This case is unique, in part because of the number of individuals levying allegations against Mr. Combs due to his celebrity status,” the letter reads. “The publicity surrounding his previously settled lawsuit and the grand jury leaks has led to a flood of accusations from unidentified individuals, many of which are sensationalized and unsubstantiated.”

The motion also references the recent surge in lawsuits filed against Combs. According to the letter, six additional lawsuits were brought forward by anonymous plaintiffs just this past Monday. Diddy’s attorneys expressed concerns about the handling of these cases, noting that a press conference was held by the accusers’ legal team, during which they claimed to represent a staggering 120 clients. The attorneys at the press conference alleged a range of violent acts, including sexual abuse of minors, which they broadcast on social media, adding fuel to the public outcry.

In their motion, Diddy’s legal team criticized the public nature of the accusations and the tactics used by the accusers’ counsel, referring to the press conference as a “publicity stunt.” They highlighted that a toll-free number set up for potential victims reportedly received 12,000 calls within 24 hours, suggesting that the campaign against Combs may be encouraging unfounded allegations.

The motion to unseal the identities of Combs’ accusers is likely to be a contentious issue as the trial approaches. On one hand, Diddy’s lawyers argue that knowing who is making the claims is essential for them to investigate and challenge the allegations in court. On the other, attorneys for the plaintiffs may push back, citing privacy and safety concerns for those accusing a high-profile figure like Combs.

With the trial date set for next May, the case against Diddy is sure to draw significant media attention, particularly if the court grants his team access to the identities of the accusers. As the legal battle intensifies, the stakes are high for both Combs and his accusers, with both sides preparing for a high-profile courtroom showdown.
