A former Disney actor will spend two years behind bars as part of a plea deal related to a case where he tried enticing a minor into sex.
Stoney Westmoreland, 52, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor. The judge sentenced him to 24 months in prison and ten years of supervised release.
Westmoreland spoke to an undercover officer he thought was a 13-year-old boy on the Grindr app. He attempted to meet up with the investigator, believing it was the boy. The former actor’s lawyers argued that he thought he was communicating with an adult who was roleplaying as the teen.
In addition to jail time, Westmoreland will be required to register as a sex offender, participate in DNA collection, and will not be allowed to interact with minors without supervision. His computers, other electronic devices, email, and social media will be subject to random searches.
The disgraced actor was known for playing the grandfather “Ham” on Disney’s Andy Mack. He was fired from the show following his 2018 arrest.
