Doja Cat says drinking Celsius nearly landed her in a beef with another artist.
The “Juicy” superstar detailed the odd series of events in a chat with “Therapy Gecko.” While dressed in a bright green gecko costume with host Lyle Drescher, the conversation went to why Doja does not consume the energy drink, which she blamed for a weird outburst where she imitated a fellow musician.
“So I was singing a song and, like, doing the voice of somebody else with the song. Like, I filmed myself doing the song in a crazy voice, and it was my really bad impression of that person, and people took it super wrong. They thought that I was, like, trying to start or cause drama and issues when really I was just being a f**king asshole. Just being dumb,” Doja explained.
Though she didn’t say any names, social media wasted no time pointing out that Doja imitated Cardi and her 2019 song, “Press.” Doja was seen in a car playfully singing the song in an overly exaggerated Cardi voice. After the clip went viral, Doja Cat explained to Big Boy that people edited part of the video where she praised the record, making it appear that she was taking jabs at Cardi. However, Doja explained that she spoke with the New York rapper about the matter directly, and things were quickly resolved without incident. With such a quick resolution to their issue, Cardi seems to be the artist in question.
It should be noted that Doja frequently imitates other artists and their songs, so there are countless possibilities.
