Doritos and Empirical have announced their collaboration of a nacho cheese-flavored cocktail.
The innovative nacho cheese cocktail stands out for its unusual liquor base, made with real Doritos chips and alcohol.
According to a press release, the limited-release Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese Spirit “smells and tastes just like the real thing.”
“Experience the indulgent flavors of your favorite snack in liquid form. The spirit opens with umami and tangy aromas of nacho cheese, moving to the deeper, corn-forward flavors of the chip to finish on a soft, salty note,” the news release said.
Doritos captured its iconic flavor by “extracting” layers of nacho cheese using “vacuum distillation” with real chips instead of using traditional distillation methods.
“Empirical is an ‘uncategorized’ spirits company, so it allows us the freedom to experiment with really interesting flavors and not have to be stuck in a gin box, tequila box, or whiskey box,” the distiller and CEO Lars Williams said in the release. “And we can take something that has a unique and amazing flavor, like Doritos, and evolve it into something completely new.”
Starting December 13, customers can pre-order a bottle of the Doritos nacho cheese spirit online for $65 through doritos.x.empirical.co. The company suggests recipes for Margaritas, Bloody Marys, Old Fashioneds and more.
