Dr. Dre just won one of his legal battles against estranged wife, Nicole Young.
Dr. Dre and Nicole have been going back-and-forth for the past few weeks in court over issues, including spousal support amid the two’s divorce. But in the latest development, according to TMZ, a judge has denied Nicole’s request for $1.5 million to pay a variety of expenses, including security. The judge also rejected her request to have Dre pay her $5 million in lawyer fees and other costs.
Nicole’s lawyers argued in court that their client needs the $1.5 million for security because she has been receiving death threats. The attorney also added that the money would go toward other expenses that Nicole has. Nicole says that some people have been commenting on their divorce, saying, “If she dies, she dies,” and “For a small fee she can disappear,” TMZ reports.
However, the judge ruled against her because Nicole got rid of the security team that Dre was paying for. She claimed that her former lover is too controlling, and that’s why she wanted to get a security team of her own. Nicole said that Dre threatened to fire the security if they did not follow his demands. But, Dre’s lawyer said that the media mogul is still willing to pay for all of Nicole’s expenses following the divorce, including security. In the end, the judge ordered that Nicole could select a private security company for her protection but that it cannot be worth more than what Dre was paying.
Nicole’s legal team also requested for the hearing over their legal fees be moved up. Nicole has racked up $5 million in legal fees and other costs, and she wants Dr. Dre to pay for it. The hearing was set for January, but Nicole’s team asked for it to be changed to this month, but a judge denied the request.
However, A judge did say that there are domestic violence and custody cases that the two will need to work out, saying that if Dre did exercise control over Nicole, she can file for a restraining order.
