Dr. Anthony Fauci has shot back at Nicki Minaj following her tweet about someone who allegedly suffered infertility after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
On Monday, Nicki shared her thoughts about the vaccine while revealing that she was diagnosed with the virus recently. In one of the tweets, the “Barbie Tingz” rapper shared that a friend of her cousin received the COVID-19 shot and “became impotent” after his testicles swelled up.
Fauci slammed the claims in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, where he stated that there is “no evidence” to suggest that the shot affects the male reproductive organs.
While Fauci stated that combating misinformation requires providing “a lot of correct information” to “debunk these kinds of claims,” it appears that the medical expert doesn’t want any smoke with the Queen nor the Barbz. Fauci says he is “not blaming her for anything.” Instead, he would like her to think before she shares such information with her massive following.
“She should be thinking twice about propagating information that really has no basis except as a one-off anecdote. And that’s not what science is all about,” he said.
Others have spoken out about Nicki’s tweets, including MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who felt that the hip-hop star was being irresponsible with her platform by encouraging “our community to not protect themselves and save their lives.”
Nicki responded by pulling old tweets showing Reid’s own apprehension with the vaccine. She also called Reid “thirsty” for wanting to “down another Black woman.”
