The mystery surrounding Doja Cat’s relationship with her father just took a messy turn. Dumisani Dlamini, the South African actor known for his role in Sarafina, finally went to social media to tell his side of the story.
For years, the public has labeled him an absent father, but Dlamini is now claiming he was pushed out of his daughter’s life by her mother.
In a recently shared video to his followers, Dlamini defended his history as a provider. He stated, “Hello my lovely people. You know, I know each and every channel or if and every social media platform today it’s a day for me because I know everyone has been saying but Dumani is quiet, is not saying anything. Today I want to tell you the fact. I’ve worked so hard to make my name which is my reputation. I’ve worked so hard to fight for this country with Sarafina and then I made a platform for this world to be where it is and then I happened to meet Do Soal but I named her Zandel.”
Dlamini’s explanation for the distance between him and the superstar centers on allegations of parental alienation. He claims that while he was living abroad, he supported his partner and her children from a previous relationship, only to have the narrative flipped once Doja found fame.
“No one knows what happened,” he continued. “But today without a media briefing guys let me tell you you can’t be in a foreign country and find a woman a white woman with three kids and then you make two kids with her and then she become so lucky that she give birth to the superstar and then she give information to the superstar that your father is not a good man. I’m talking about a white woman, Jewish woman.”
He emphasized that he never abandoned his children and blamed Doja’s mother for “brainwashing” her into believing he left. He mentioned that they even visited South Africa and met his family in the past, a detail he feels the media ignores. “Today I want to tell the world that I’m not going to be used by a white woman with three kids that I was feeding those kids with the money of Saraphina and my name and my reputation as a good man. I love my kids. I took care of her kids. Deborah. Three kids, white kids. They hated me.”
This move follows a very public and bizarre exchange. Recently, Doja Cat revealed she sent her father a link to gay porn, telling him to use that same link to buy tickets to her show. This was a direct response to Dlamini claiming he couldn’t attend her performance because she doesn’t call or message him enough.
Despite the tension, Dlamini ended his statement asking fans not to turn against his daughter. “Please don’t hate my baby. Please don’t say things to my baby, but know that I love her. She’s the best artist and she’s been feeded with evil by her mother. Peace. That’s spiritual man. I don’t live to impress. I’m an impression. I make the fear fears me. I’m a God’s son. Thank you so much. Take care.”
