Dwyane Wade has welcomed a baby boy with another woman, a child he fathered while he and Gabrielle Union were on a break, according to Entertainment Tonight.
A source close to the couple told ET that the Miami Heat star recently spent time with his newborn son. The news comes just days after Wade, 31, and Union, 41, got engaged, with Wade announcing on December 21 that the actress said yes.
According to ET’s source, Union knew about the baby before she accepted Wade’s proposal, and the two have worked through the situation privately as a couple. The source said Wade has known the child’s mother “for many years” and that he has never taken his responsibilities as a father lightly and does not plan to start now.
Rumors that Wade had a baby on the way outside of his relationship with Union had been circulating for months before the report. The child’s mother has not been publicly identified.
The baby is Wade’s third son. Wade already has two sons, Zaire and Zion, from his marriage to his ex wife Siohvaughn Funches, and he won full custody of the boys in 2011.
