Claressa Shields responded to Gervonta Davis after he mocked the outfit she wore to her November 2 listening party in Atlanta, then used the exchange to promote her new single, “Party.” Her response also took aim at the domestic violence allegations that have followed the Baltimore-born boxer.

On November 3, Davis shared a video of Shields posing for photographers and tagged her in an Instagram Story, writing, “You look a hot a*s mess.” The footage showed the undefeated champion wearing a fitted black outfit with lace-up details along her exposed back and bright red thigh-high boots. She had chosen the look for “Gloves Off, Mic On,” an event celebrating her move into music.Claressa Shields answered on X with a link to her song on Apple Music.
“Keep streaming Party,” she wrote, adding, “Ain’t nobody thinking about that woman beating M*dget Tank.”
Instead of debating whether Davis liked her clothing, Shields directed people to her new release while taking a personal shot at the fellow boxer.

The remark referenced Davis’ legal history. In October 2025, his former girlfriend Courtney Rossel sued him over an alleged encounter at a Miami Gardens nightclub where she worked. Rossel accused Davis of assaulting her and forcing her through the building. Surveillance footage later played in a Florida courtroom showed him grabbing her by the hair and neck during the confrontation.
Davis has disputed Rossel’s allegations. His attorneys argued against her request for punitive damages, while a judge allowed her civil claim to proceed. Davis also filed a $20 million countersuit accusing Rossel of trying to extort him, but a judge dismissed that countersuit in May 2026. Shields’ social media accusation should not be confused with a determination of criminal guilt.
At the center of this latest exchange is a listening party, not a fight. Rolling Out presented the November 2 gathering in Atlanta, where Shields previewed nine tracks from her upcoming album, “What Did You Expect.” More than 500 guests attended, according to Complex, including Scrappy, Dondria and her boyfriend, rapper Papoose.
Papoose joined Claressa Shields onstage, along with her sister. The champion released “Party” with a music video ahead of the event and has promised additional music, although an official release date for the full album has not been announced.
Her boxing career has also continued. Shields improved her undefeated professional record to 19-0 in August after defeating Kaye Scott by sixth-round technical knockout in Atlanta.
Davis and Shields have traded public shots before. In 2024, their disagreements over boxing debates turned personal, with comments about appearance and each other’s careers.
Their relationship has not been entirely hostile, though. After Davis fought Lamont Roach Jr. to a majority draw in March 2025, Shields defended his boxing ability and acknowledged Roach as a strong opponent.
The latest exchange comes as Claressa Shields expands her career beyond boxing. In October, she announced a reality television project, “GWOATS,” with Zeus Network. Her new single arrived days before the Atlanta listening event, and she has continued promoting upcoming music.
Davis’ outfit criticism has now become another public clash between the two boxing stars, with Shields using her response to bring attention back to “Party” while reviving a serious controversy surrounding Davis.
