These days, it’s truly a blessing when justice is served for police brutality. Former Baltimore police officer, Arthur Williams, has been indicted on first and second-degree assault and misconduct in office, according to Baltimore State’s Attorney, Marilyn Mosby.

Williams resigned from his position as a probationary officer after a video surfaced showing him beating Dashawn McGrier, who was unarmed. There is reported history between Williams and McGrier, as Williams has a reputation of “antagonizing and aggravating” McGrier in previous encounters. In fact, McGrier was arrested by Williams back in June and charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and other minor charges. But, according to his attorney, Williams “directed his ire at McGrier, grabbing him off a bicycle and throwing him to the ground,” during that encounter.

The recorded altercation began after Williams asked McGrier for his identification and McGrier refused. The officer then became impatient and pushed McGrier into a wall. McGrier swats the officer’s hands away, and that’s when all hell breaks loose. Williams, uncontrollably attacks McGrier, all while a second officer stands by and does very little to intervene or control his fellow officer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As reported by CNN, there is currently a warrant out for Williams’ arrest and the second officer is on desk duty, pending further investigation.

Do you think justice has been served?
