Exec On Blast For Saying Lesbians, Older Women, & Big Girls Shouldn’t Wear Herve Leger Bandage Dress

An Herve Leger executive had a pretty harsh opinion about who should wear the brand’s most popular design. It’s an opinion he probably should have left to himself because now he is paying for it big time.

Patrick Couderc, the managing director for Herve Leger UK, told UK’s Daily Mail that the infamous bandage dress does not flatter “voluptuous women” or those with “very prominent hips and a very flat chest.” According to Couderc, thick girls aren’t the only ones who should steer away from bodycon dresses, lesbians should too. “If you’re a committed lesbian and you are wearing trousers all your life, you won’t want to buy a Leger dress,” Couderc said. “Lesbians would want to be rather butch and leisurely.” Who knew all lesbians were “butch”?

If you thought the gross comments stopped there, you’re wrong. Couderc also feels like older women shouldn’t wear the dress either. “What you’re not noticing is that your cleavage is about two inches too low because you are 55 and it’s time that you should not display everything like you’re 23,” he said. Oh, and did we forget to mention that Couderc feels poor people shouldn’t wear Herve Leger. He says that he’s refused to offer clothing to those that “lack sufficient class.” Oh boy!

So what does Herve Leger think of Couderc’s comments? The company issued a statement:

“The Herve Leger by Max Azria brand and its parent company, BCBGMAXAZRIA Group, are shocked and appalled by Patrick Couderc’s comments made in the Mail on Sunday. BCBGMAXAZRIA Group is working in concert with MJH Fashion, the London-based licensee of the Herve Leger brand, to investigate and establish appropriate next steps. The statements made by Mr. Couderc are not a reflection of Herve Leger by Max Azria or MJH Fashion ideals or sentiments. The Herve Leger by Max Azria brand celebrates sensuality, glamour and femininity without discrimination.”
