New details from the police report in Kellen Winslow’s arrest are making the rounds. The New York Jets tight end was arrested on November 19 in East Hanover, New Jersey, for possession of synthetic marijuana. He was later charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and pleaded not guilty.
According to the Newark Star-Ledger and CBS Sports, a woman told police she believed she saw inappropriate behavior in Winslow’s vehicle outside a Target and gave a written statement. The report says he was clothed when officers found him. Winslow reportedly told police he was looking for a Boston Market. An officer reportedly saw containers of synthetic marijuana, and Winslow agreed to a search of the vehicle. He was not charged with anything related to the witness’s account.
Winslow’s representative, Denise White of EAG Sports Management, told reporters he pulled over to smoke a substance he believed was legal and changed clothes so he would not smell of smoke. She said nothing inappropriate happened and that police would have charged him if it had.
The Jets said earlier this month that the matter is pending and they would have no further comment. The drug charge had not been resolved at the time of this report.
