Fans of “Jeopardy!” are becoming increasingly unhappy about the news that the show’s executive producer, Mike Richards, is in talks to become its permanent host.
Richards is “in advanced negotiations with Sony Pictures Television” for the position, according to Variety.
Following the death of Alex Trebek, who hosted more than 8,000 “Jeopardy!” episodes, a rotating cast of people have filled in as guest hosts this season. Richards was the second person to fill in as a guest presenter this season.
Although a new host has not been confirmed, some Twitter users are nonetheless voicing their opinions about the possibility of Richards taking over Trebek’s reins.
As previously reported, many hoped and even petitioned for LeVar Burton to be made the game show’s permanent host.
Burton took to Twitter Thursday to say, “I have said many times over these past weeks that no matter the outcome, I’ve won. The outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and fans alike has been incredible! If love is the ultimate blessing and I believe that it is, I am truly blessed beyond measure.”
Many fans also took to Twitter to express their dislike for the new alleged host.
