Jonathan Majors made headlines a few months ago after being honored with the Perseverance Award at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards. At the time, many people were confused about how he was selected for the award, given his recent assault allegations. The buzz surrounding the achievement eventually died down a bit but was reignited after a clip of Majors giving his emotional acceptance speech surfaced online after the show officially aired.
In the clip, Majors is seen taking the stage and expressing gratitude for his girlfriend, Meagan Good, who stood by his side in the midst of his legal issues.
“I love you. I love you beyond all limit with all my strength. With all my heart I love you,” he said tearfully. “I’m supposed to be the toughest jawn, when you done carried me so so so so many nights. I love you.”
Seconds later, the camera pans over to Good as she sits in the audience, wiping tears from her face. Additionally, the video clip concluded with Majors singing Chaka Khan’s 1984 hit song “Through the Fire,” which gave some comedic relief to the emotional moment.
As previously mentioned, the event occurred in June and was the talk of social media. The moment garnered significant attention, especially after inspirational speaker and life coach Iyanla Vanzant presented Majors with the award, and he cried on her chest before giving his speech.
