Fat Joe may be a veteran in the game but does not want to be called “unc.”

On Wednesday, the Bronx rapper shared with his Instagram followers that he does not like being called “unc” and says there are other names that could be used to show respect.

“Do me a favor, man. Don’t ‘unc’ me,” the 52-year-old rapper said. ““You could do OG. ‘Yo wassup, OG?’ You know this, that,” he said. “Don’t ‘unc’ me. You know they try to ‘unc’ me. Until, you know, you fly and smelling better…”

Fat Joe isn’t the first celebrity to reject the term of endearment. In 2020, Mary J. Blige sat with ‘Hip Hollywood’ and revealed how she felt about being called “auntie” by her fans and supporters.

“Why can’t I just be a sister? There are women that are like, way older than me calling me ‘Auntie.’ C’mon,” the singer said. “Can I just be your sister? Your friend in your head? The auntie is like, C’mon. Not if you’re ten years older than me. Please don’t call me auntie. I’ll be your sister.”

Oprah have also expressed their dislike for the term.

“I cringe being called Auntie or Mama by anybody other than my nieces or godchildren,” Oprah said. “Except if I’m in Africa, where it’s the custom for everybody to refer to anyone older as ‘Sister,’ or ‘Auntie,’ depending on the age difference. And there, no one refers to anyone older by their first name, out of respect. Oprah has worked pretty well for me. Though sometimes strangers refer to me as Lady O, which feels friendly, yet respectful of the age difference. It feels appropriate.”
