A man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at an off campus homecoming party in Texas says he is innocent.
According to KERA and WFAA, two men were killed and about a dozen other people were hurt in the shooting Saturday night at a party hall outside Greenville, Texas. Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks announced Monday that Brandon, 23, had been arrested at the Greenville auto dealership where he works washing cars. He was charged with capital murder, and his bond was set at $1 million.
Speaking to WFAA from the Hunt County Jail, Brandon said he went to the Halloween themed party dressed as a security guard but was not inside the hall when the shooting began. He said he was in his car outside and that witnesses can confirm it, though he declined to name them. He said he is innocent.
Authorities say they identified Brandon as a suspect after pushing for people to come forward and that people eventually did. Investigators also said they believe the shooter went to the party to target one specific person before shooting into the crowd. A motive has not been made public.
The investigation is ongoing, and Brandon has not been convicted of anything. Kevin and Byron, both 23, were killed. Our thoughts are with their families and everyone hurt that night.
