The FBI has joined the investigation into the shocking death of Shanquella Robinson, who was found murdered in a Mexican villa while on vacation.
The 25-year-old’s death has captivated social media, with millions demanding answers into what happened to the Charlotte, North Carolina hairstylist who was visiting Cabo San Lucas for vacation. Robinson was found deceased on October 28th, the same day she arrived in the country with seven friends. Initially, the group claimed she died of alcohol poisoning. However, an autopsy revealed that she suffered a broken neck and spinal cord injury.
Her family did not buy the friend’s story that the woman died of extreme intoxication. According to Robinson’s mother, Salamondra Robinson, she was told that her daughter was found by a housekeeping staff member in Villa Linda 32, which the group rented together. To make the situation more suspicious, the autopsy findings coincided with a heartbreaking video showing a nude Robinson being brutally beaten by her supposed best friend, Daejhanae Jackson, as a male recorded and asked why the clearly disoriented Robinson wasn’t fighting back.
“No one told the same story, so I never believed them anyway,” Salamondra stated.
Mexican officials were originally cautious about labeling Robinson’s death as a murder. Now, with the FBI’s involvement, the death is being investigated as a “criminal matter.” The focus is now on whether or not the assault led to her severe injuries. Anyone with additional footage of the assault is urged to come forward.
In the meantime, the family is left to grapple with final homegoing preparations as they prepare to lay Robinson to rest this weekend in Charlotte.
