Federal agents have arrested an Alabama man connected to the far-right anti-government militia Oath Keepers for his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
On Tuesday, federal agents accused 33-year-old Joshua A. James of storming the Capitol and being tied to convicted felon Roger Stone’s Oath Keepers group, according to NBC News. Authorities charged James with obstructing an official proceeding and entering a restricted building, according to a federal complaint that was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Washington.
The court documents state James is the owner of a cleaning company called American Pro Hydro Services. It goes on to say that James traveled to Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6 wearing “an Oath Keepers baseball cap” and “a black long-sleeve top with an Oath Keepers patch on the sleeve.”
The Oath Keepers have reportedly pushed for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and send out special forces and militia members to block the transfer of presidential power to Joe Biden, as well as harm “domestic enemies.” Several news outlets have reported that the Oath Keepers have been providing security to Stone, who advised Trump for some time.
The complaint stated that “James and other Oath Keepers stormed the Capitol, forcing a halt to the certification of the Electoral College vote.”
NBC News reports that James was seen wearing military “military-style attire and gear” with the Oath Keepers logo. He was also photographed standing outside the Capitol on the day of the domestic terrorist attack.
