Feds Say Kay Flock Bragged About Gang Crimes As New Racketeering Charges Announced

Drill rapper Kay Flock is now facing additional legal troubles stacked on top of his already ominous murder case.

On Thursday, the United States Justice Department indicted Flock on racketeering conspiracy charges for his alleged role in Bronx gangs “Sev Side” and “Third Side.” Per the indictment, the 19-year-old rapper participated in a string of crimes when the two crews joined forces, including violent shootings that terrorized local neighborhoods between 2019 and 2022. The Justice Department says the groups bragged about their crimes in rap music.

Flock, whose real name is Kevin Perez, has been jailed since December 2021 for the murder of Oscar Hernandez outside of a Harlem barbershop. According to investigators, Hernandez was waiting for a haircut shortly before 10:00 a.m. Flock allegedly walked by the barbershop and opened the door, accusing Hernandez of staring at him. When the 24-year-old stepped outside to speak with Flock, an argument ensued. It appears things were de-escalating, but for whatever reason, Flock shot the man in the neck and head. One witness has claimed Flock is a victim of mistaken identity, while law enforcement claims the shooting was gang-related, carried out by Flock. The high-profile murder case will now be transferred out of state court and moved to the federal level, the DOJ confirmed.

The timing of Flock’s misfortunes couldn’t have been worse, as he was only just beginning to gain national acclaim. His 2021 record, “Shake It,” received a Cardi B remix in 2022. Another notable single is “Make a Movie” with fellow New Yorker Fivio Foreign. Both records have accumulated millions of YouTube views.
