Fetty Wap just caught a major break in the middle of a long stretch behind bars, and the timing could not be better.
The New Jersey rapper is now officially set to be released on December 8, 2026, giving him a real chance to make it home in time for the holiday season. The move is a big shift from his original release date, and fans are already celebrating the update.
This marks the second time his prison timeline has changed. At first, Fetty was scheduled to remain in federal custody until March 13, 2027. Then in September, the Bureau of Prisons updated his release to January 8, 2027. Now the date has been moved up again, this time landing on December 8, 2026.
Us Weekly confirmed the new change, although officials have not explained why the timeline was adjusted for a second time.
Right now, Fetty Wap is serving his sentence at FCI Sandstone, a low security federal prison in Minnesota. Even once he steps out next year, he will still remain under federal supervision for five years, which is standard for cases like his.
His prison time stems from a 2021 arrest that made headlines nationwide. Authorities accused him of helping move more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack in a trafficking pipeline between New Jersey and Long Island. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and in May 2023 a federal judge sentenced him to six years in prison.
Despite the weight of the conviction, this latest update gives Fetty Wap something real to look forward to. With a new release date in place, the rapper is officially closer to a fresh start than anyone expected.
