New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap was reportedly involved in an early morning altercation in his hometown of Paterson that was followed by gunfire outside a 24 hour deli on the south side of the city.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. Sunday, roughly 10 minutes before officers were called to the scene for reports of shots fired. According to officials, the “Trap Queen” rapper, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, was not hurt, but he and his friends were at the scene when the shooting happened. The Daily News reports that police say neither Willie nor his friends are suspects in the shooting or in a robbery that reportedly took place at the same time. Fetty Wap’s 1738 chain was reportedly taken during the altercation.
Two men were hurt and taken to local hospitals. One, found at the scene, was 34 and had been shot in the leg. The other, found several blocks away, was 37 and had been shot in the torso. A third man with a gunshot wound was taken to the trauma center at Hackensack University Medical Center, and officials were still working to determine whether he was a victim of the same incident.
Police have not released the victims’ conditions, but they confirmed that none of the injuries are life threatening. As of Monday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.
