Anna Morgan Lloyd

Anna Morgan Lloyd, the first Capitol Rioter to be sentenced for her participation in the violent attacks at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, received probation and will serve no jail time.

The 49-year-old Trump supporter pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of “parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building” and will avoid time behind bars.

Federal Judge Royce C Lamberth sentenced Morgan-Lloyd to three years of probation after the woman made a plea to “the American people” and apologized for participating in what she called “a savage display of violence.”

Judge Lamberth said other Capitol rioters may not receive the same sentence for their part in the events of January 6th.

“A sizable part of our public may not think that I’m enacting an appropriate sentence in this case today, in giving you the break that I’m going to give you,” Judge Lamberth said to Morgan-Lloyd.

“I don’t want to create the impression that probation is the automatic response here because it’s not going to be,” he stressed.

Prosecutors had argued that Morgan-Lloyd and her friend spent about 10 minutes inside a hallway in the Capitol and did not destroy any property or incite any violence like some of the extremists who were present that day.
