Five Ole Miss students were arrested in connection with an alleged attack on a fellow student, according to campus police and news reports.
According to the victim, Jeremy, a junior, went outside his home late on the night of October 6 to check on a noise and was jumped by five people. He says the beating left him with a concussion, a ruptured eardrum, broken teeth, a lung contusion and bruised ribs. He was taken to the hospital and has been recovering.
Authorities say the five people arrested are Tucker, James, Christian, Kyle and Austin, all members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. They were arrested on Friday night. Jeremy was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity, and it has not been made clear whether fraternity affiliation had anything to do with the attack.
These are allegations, and the five students are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. We have not seen a response from the students or their representatives, and we will update this story if more is confirmed.
