Flava Flav and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian stepped up to help U.S. Olympic track and field athlete Veronica Fraley pay her rent just before her Olympic debut.
It all started when Fraley tweeted, “I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent. My school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything) enough to buy new cars and houses.”
This tweet caught the attention of many, including Flava Flav.
Flav responded with, “I gotchu… DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW… and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO,!!!”
Not long after, Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams, joined in, tweeting, “C’mon now! I’ll split it with @flavorfav.” Ohanian followed up with a screenshot showing an online payment of $7,760, proving he made the payment.
Fraley confirmed the good news with a screenshot captioned “rent is officially paid. Time to lock in.” She expressed her gratitude in a follow-up tweet, saying, “THANK YOU & @FlavorFlav SO MUCH this makes every difference in the WORLD & I hope to represent team USA well this week.”
