Disney Files Lawsuit Against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Alleging 'Government Retaliation'

As many states have adopted the ‘vaccine passport’ as proof an individual has received the vaccine, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has prohibited it in the sunshine state.

Effective immediately, no businesses in Florida, whether private or public, will be able to require individuals to have documentation proving they’ve been vaccinated against the virus.

The order states that “to gain access to, entry upon, or service from the business,” no “documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post-transmission recovery” is necessary.

According to the New York Post, DeSantis’s decision is based upon him not wanting to restrict admission.

“It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine just simply to be able to participate in normal society,” DeSantis said on Monday.

He also argued that “the implementation and enforcement of vaccine passports would ‘create two classes of citizens based on vaccinations’,” CNN reported.

If businesses refuse to comply with the order, they will be ineligible for contracts or grants funded through state revenue.

The Post also noted the Governor’s concerns over “corporations handling ‘vaccine data.'”

“You want the fox to guard the henhouse?” he said. “Give me a break.”
