Florida Man Accused Of Quitting CPR To Steal Unresponsive Overdose Victim's Electronics

A Florida man is facing murder charges after he stopped performing CPR on an overdose victim to steal her electronics.

Kyle Austin Pollett is being charged stemming from the January 20th death of Lauren Jaffe in Jacksonville. According to court docs, the 26-year-old gave Jaffe fentanyl. Once she became unresponsive, he attempted CPR but abandoned the life-saving measures shortly after. He did not call for help. Instead, he stole her television, computer, and cell phone and smashed several surveillance cameras around the home.

Pollett was captured on the Ring doorbell camera, leaving and returning to the home with a mask as he continued to take Jaffe’s belongings.

Jaffe’s roommate used the Find My Friends app to track Jaffe’s phone after becoming concerned for her well-being. Her phone appeared at an address about 20 miles away from her home. The roommate says she does not know Pollett but believes he was an acquaintance of Jaffe.

When police located Pollett on the same day that Jaffe died, they found crack cocaine and fentanyl concealed in an Altoids container. He admitted that he visited Jaffe’s home to purchase a virtual reality headset from the victim. When confronted with the Ring camera footage, Pollett declined further questioning.

He now faces first-degree murder charges.
