An Orlando area hotel worker has been arrested for allegedly taking 66 rolls of toilet paper while the coronavirus outbreak had shoppers hunting for the item.
According to an arrest report obtained by Fox 35, a security guard at the Marriott on World Center Drive in Orlando saw a hotel cleaner named Angel push a trash can toward a van, place a large garbage bag inside the vehicle, and head back into the hotel. The guard then reportedly looked inside the van and found the bag full of unused toilet paper from the hotel.
The hotel called police. The report states Angel, 31, admitted to taking the rolls and said they were meant for the family of a friend who was out of work.
Online arrest records show Angel was charged with theft from a public lodging establishment, which is a third degree felony. He has since been released. A court has not decided the case, and a charge is not a conviction.
