When a Miami homeowner believed a man was attempting to break into his car, he managed to find a clever way to protect his property.

According to The New York Post, the homeowner held his iPhone like it was a gun and made the suspect get on the ground with his hands behind his back until police arrived.

“I immediately called 911, and while talking to the police, I came outside. I pointed the phone to him, and I said, ‘Lay down.’ I start screaming, ‘What are you doing there?’ And he tried to come towards me, and I said, ‘Stay there. Don’t come here,’” the homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous said.

“The phone is black, so just pointing at him, it’s just like a weapon,” he said.

It took about six minutes for Miami Beach Police to arrive, but when they did, they praised the homeowner for a “good job” on how he handled the situation.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Sheldon Johnson and is facing a slew of charges, including burglary, attempted grand theft auto and resisting arrest.
