Florida Mother Loses Two Children 11 Days Apart From Coronavirus

A mother in Florida is without two of her children after they died from coronavirus 11 days apart.

Monete Hicks is mourning the loss of her 20-year-old son Byron and 23-year-old daughter Mychaela after losing their battle with the virus.

Byron experienced trouble breathing and was rushed to the hospital in late June.

“We called the paramedics, and the paramedics came by. They rushed him down. They said it was just a matter of time because he was losing so much oxygen,” Hicks told WPLG.

Byron later died in the hospital.

Less than a week later, Mychaela was taken to the hospital after experiencing headaches and a fever. She died just 11 days later after her brother on July 8 after her kidneys failed.

Hicks said both of her children tested positive for coronavirus and had underlying health issues.

“Wear your masks,” Hicks said on CNN. “Be careful, be safe out there; take it seriously.”

“We never thought in a million years that a virus would come and take out two of our loved ones within 11 days. It’s not a game. Please wear your mask,” their cousin Darisha Scott said.
