A Florida substitute teacher is facing child abuse charges after police say she let a seventh grader hit her vape pen.
Jennifer Hale, 50, of Lake County, overheard a conversation about a student wanting to try a vape pen. That’s when the Eustis Middle School sub had the bright idea of letting him try hers.
Hale reportedly told the student not to tell anyone because she didn’t want to get in trouble.
Unfortunately for Hale, another student told.
The following day, school principal Michael Spencer confronted Hale about the incident where she admitted she let the student hit her nicotine vape pen because she was “just trying to fit in,” Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV TV reports.
A spokesperson for the school district confirmed Hale “is no longer employed with Lake County Schools.”
In addition, she was arrested on a single charge of child abuse, a third-degree felony. She was later released after posting a $1,000 bond.
