World famous boxer Floyd Mayweather has found himself in a different kind of fight with a restaurant patron who claims he was assaulted by the boxer’s security.

Californian Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez filed a lawsuit stemming from an altercation nearly two years ago at Los Angeles Yard House near Crypto.com Arena. On the night of February 10th, 2022, Martinez claims he saw Mayweather arrive at the eatery and tried to record him as he walked in. This apparently didn’t sit well with the boxing champ, who informed his bodyguard to “handle” Martinez.

Martinez swears the guard allegedly hit him, sending him to the floor. Even with Martinez assaulted, he says the bodyguard then proceeded to wrestle his phone away from him, seemingly in an attempt to get the footage he’d recorded. Martinez says he sustained multiple injuries from the assault, which still requires medical treatment. He is seeking unspecified damages in the case.

A representative for Mayweather claims that the boxer only came into the restaurant briefly and left when he saw how crowded it was. However, Martinez strongly disagrees with their series of events. Shortly after the supposed incident took place, Martinez reported it to police. However, witnesses disputed his story. In fact, bystanders told police that Martinez dramatically fell to the ground after the bodyguard demanded he erase the video. Now, a court will decide if Mayweather is actually liable for Martinez’s series of events.
