Forever Goin In: Celebrating Rich Homie Quan On His 35th Birthday

Late rapper Rich Homie Quan would have turned 35 today, and fans across social media are remembering him for his impactful contributions and unique run in hip-hop.

Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, Rich Homie Quan made a significant mark on the music industry during his career. From his early mixtapes that captivated the streets to his mainstream success, the Atlanta rapper carved out a distinct space in Southern hip-hop. His underground hit, “Differences,” from the 2012 mixtape “Still Goin In,” put him on the map. However, his breakout hit “Type of Way,” featured on 2013’s “Still Goin In: Reloaded,” propelled him to national fame, solidifying his presence beyond the South.

Quan’s melodic delivery caught the attention of notable artists like Gucci Mane, Young Thug, and Birdman, leading to his recruitment into the Rich Gang collective. He was featured on the chart-topping track “Lifestyle,” which became a cultural phenomenon. His chemistry with Young Thug shone on their joint mixtape, “Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1,” cementing their influence in hip-hop.

His November 2013 mixtape, “I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In,” sparked another big moment with the hit “Walk Thru,” which became one of his most beloved records and attracted collaborations with other major names. Quan’s distinctive sound also earned him features on chart-toppers like YG’s “My N***a,” Yo Gotti’s “I Know,” and many others.

Prior to his untimely passing in September 2024, Quan was working on new music, which was unveiled on Friday with his posthumous album “Forever Goin In.” The album, comprising 35 songs to honor his 35th birthday, serves as a testament to his legacy. As fans mourn the loss of this star, his catalog and impact on the industry will be felt for years to come.
