Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, an unpaid White House advisor and former friend to first lady Melania Trump, says her time working for the Trump family was “the worst mistake of my life.”

She worked for the first lady up until her contract was terminated in February of 2018 when questions about inaugural spending arose, according to Hollywood Reporter.

In Wolkoff’s book’ Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady,’ she writes, “When it really counted, Melania wasn’t there for me. She wasn’t really my friend. In fact, I wish I had never met her.”

In the book, set to be published on Tuesday, the event planner says the pair met in 2003 at Vogue magazine.

She talks about the tense relationship between the first lady and her stepdaughter, Ivanka, going so far as to detail how the pair tried to black Ivanka from sharing any of the spotlight on the day of Trump’s inauguration.

She details the planning of the 2017 inauguration in two of the book’s chapters, saying she repeatedly raised questions about the budget until “eventually she came to be viewed as the problem.”

“Like a broken record, I kept expressing my concerns about budgets,” Wolkoff writes. “Also, like a broken record, I became everyone’s problem.”

Wolkoff said she is cooperating in ongoing criminal investigations into the committee’s operations in an interview with ABC News on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump called the book “full of mistruths and paranoia” based on an “imagined need for revenge” in emailed statements.
