Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton is facing serious criminal charges. Fulton County prosecutors announced that the 25 year old and his cousin, Douglas Gamble, were indicted on a 12 count indictment that includes murder and gang related charges.
The charges stem from a 2011 shooting in Atlanta that killed a 22 year old woman named Julian. The attempted murder charge relates to a man prosecutors say was the intended target. Authorities allege the shooting may have been gang related and may have been retaliation after Crittenton was robbed of about $50,000 worth of jewelry, according to reports.
Crittenton, who played for the Washington Wizards, was previously linked to a 2009 locker room gun incident involving a teammate. His attorney, Brian Steel, has said his client is not guilty. An indictment is a formal accusation, not a conviction, and no trial date has been set.
