Darren Sharper, the former NFL safety and current NFL Network analyst, has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of rape.
TMZ Sports first reported the arrest, and law enforcement sources told the outlet that the 38 year old was taken into custody on Friday. The LAPD says it is investigating Sharper in connection with two separate sexual assaults in the West Los Angeles area, one that allegedly happened in October 2013 and another earlier this month. The identities of the women have not been released.
Sharper was booked into the Los Angeles County jail and released Friday night after posting $200,000 bail.
Sharper spent 14 seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. The hard hitting safety was a five time Pro Bowl selection, finished his career with 63 interceptions, and won a Super Bowl with the Saints. Since retiring, he has worked as an analyst for NFL Network.
