Former NFL running back Chris Johnson is named in court documents that allege he helped fund revenge shootings in Florida, according to a report from TMZ Sports.

TMZ Sports reported that the documents claim Johnson paid a suspected gang member, identified as Dominic, to kill two men believed to be behind a 2015 drive by shooting in Orlando. Johnson was shot in the shoulder in that incident and recovered. The driver of his Jeep, a man named Dreekius, was killed.

Johnson, 34, has not been charged with a crime. The three time Pro Bowler last played in 2017 with Arizona.

According to the report, an informant told authorities that the two suspected gunmen were killed in separate incidents around Orlando in January and July of 2016. The informant also alleged that, in return, Johnson helped Dominic run a drug trafficking operation by providing funds and a supplier. TMZ Sports also reported that investigators now believe the original shooting was gang related, and that officials at the time described Johnson as uncooperative.

Johnson pushed back fast. A rep for the athlete told TMZ Sports, “There’s no validity to any of these accusations,” and Johnson himself posted “False news” on Twitter.

To be clear, these are allegations from court documents. Nothing has been proven in court, and Johnson has not been charged.
