Former Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has found himself in trouble with the law over allegedly abusing a woman.
The 24-year-old was arrested on February 6th in Douglas County, Georgia, after authorities said he strangled a woman during a dispute. Police records reveal that Toney allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s throat on January 14th, applying enough pressure to cause her to be unable to breathe.
Additionally, Toney is accused of taking the woman’s phone during the altercation to prevent her from calling for help. The victim reportedly suffered red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. The arrest followed the issuance of a warrant the day after the incident. No further details about the dispute or its circumstances have been released.
Toney’s off-field issues have been well-documented throughout his career. Drafted by the New York Giants as a first-round pick in 2020 despite multiple controversies in Florida, Toney’s time with the Giants was short-lived. After a trade to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, he was released before the season began due to a series of disputes, including a public feud with the team during their Super Bowl run.
Toney, who briefly joined the Cleveland Browns practice squad in 2024, was released after appearing in just three games. Over four seasons in the NFL, he has recorded 82 catches for 760 yards and three touchdowns.
