A former Texas teacher will spend 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two teenagers in 2019, according to prosecutors in Montgomery County.
Leticia, 40, pleaded guilty to second degree sexual assault of a child and first degree sexual performance by a child. Court documents say the victims were a 14 year old boy and a 13 year old girl. The plea agreement carries an automatic 20 year sentence.
Authorities say the case came to light when the boy’s mother grew suspicious, checked his phone and found sexual text messages. She then contacted authorities. At the time, Leticia was out on bond in Harris County on a separate charge of online solicitation of a minor.
Assistant District Attorney Laura Bond told Click2Houston that the plea spared the children from having to testify.
The Harris County case is still pending and is set for trial next year. According to the report, Leticia has pleaded not guilty in that case.
