A Fort Lauderdale man says he was drugged and robbed after inviting a woman he met at a bar back to his home, and he hopes a photo she left behind will help police find her, according to WSVN.
The man, who goes by Eddie, told the station that on Jan. 3 he and a friend were along Las Olas Boulevard when they stopped at Piazza Italia. He said a woman at the bar struck up a conversation and told them she had children waiting at a hotel.
Eddie said he gave her $100 at an ATM and believes she saw his passcode there. The two then went to his home, where he said she asked for a drink. He claims that while he was in the restroom she put something in his drink and he felt dizzy and disoriented, though he did not lose consciousness.
When he looked for his phone and wallet, he said, they were gone. Eddie told WSVN that about $6,000 was later withdrawn from his account. He also said he found a photo of the woman’s face on his iPad that was apparently taken with his phone.
The woman has not been identified in the report, and these claims have not been proven. Eddie called the experience embarrassing, and said he is speaking out in hopes of an arrest.
