After allegations of inappropriate misconduct, ABC’s The Wonder Years has parted ways with producer and director Fred Savage.

The Wonder Years premiered in September as a revival of the 1988 series that starred Savage. The comedy has not yet been picked up for a second season.

Savage, who faced three separate allegations, cooperated with the investigation, according to a source. Details about the misconduct have not been made clear. Deadline reports that they include “verbal outbursts and inappropriate behavior.”

“Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched,” a spokesperson for 20th Century said. “Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years.“

This is not the first instance where Savage has faced allegations of misconduct. In 2018, a crew member on The Grinder filed a lawsuit claiming the actor harassed and attacked her. He denied the accusations, and the suit was settled out of court.

That same year, actress Alley Mills, who played Savage’s mother in the original series, alleged that the show ended following a sexual harassment suit filed against Savage and actor Jason Hervey. A costume designer sued the actors in 1993 for inappropriate behavior. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

Savage was a successful child actor but had mainly been working behind the camera in the years since.
