Alexander Bradley, a former friend of Aaron Hernandez, took the stand this week in the former NFL player’s murder trial, according to ESPN.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. Bradley was one of the last witnesses for the prosecution, which was expected to rest its case Thursday after testimony from a medical examiner.
Bradley testified that Hernandez seemed paranoid. He said Hernandez believed helicopters and law enforcement were following him and was wary of having his conversations recorded on iPhones. ESPN reported that Bradley also called Hernandez “unreasonably suspicious” outside the presence of the jury, and the judge struck that phrase from the record.
Bradley has alleged that Hernandez shot him after an argument that followed a visit to a Florida strip club in February 2013, and he sued Hernandez over it. Hernandez has not been charged in that shooting, and the judge ruled that prosecutors could not question Bradley about it. Prosecutors instead focused on a black box Bradley said he often saw in Hernandez’s basement.
