It’s a sad day when you learn a city councilman is a racist.
Jimmy Barnes, a Fort Valley councilman, has been charged with assault and making terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened to shoot a woman before calling her the N-word, the New York Post reported.
“In the heat of the moment sometimes people don’t know how to deescalate anger, we’ve seen it all over the country, everywhere,” Mayor Barbara Williams stated.
A police report on the July 2 incident states that Barnes called the woman the N-word multiple times at a highway gas station.
He was arrested 10 days later and then released on a $50,000 bong on July 15.
He will wear an ankle bracelet until further notice.
