Gabrielle Union vs NBC

Gabrielle Union and NBC have reached an agreement after she filed a complaint against the network alleging discrimination and workplace toxicity on the set of America’s Got Talent.

NBC and Gabrielle released a joint statement Tuesday, saying,” We’ve reached an amicable resolution. NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect.”

There were no more details about the settlement.

However, the move came after the actress filed a complaint in June following her dismissal as a judge on the NBC show.

In November, just seven months before the filing, it was announced that Gabrielle and Julianne Hough would not return for the 15th season. Days later, it was reported that the actress had previously expressed concerns over racial insensitivity on the set.

She claimed that there was a “toxic culture” at the show, and both Gabrielle and Julianne said the environment felt sexist as there were “excessive notes” on their physical appearance.

Last month, Gabrielle opened up about her time on the show, saying the experience was “so surprising and so heartbreaking and so frustrating and so unnecessary.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“That whole process was really brutal, and knowing that I brought my team into that, it just sucked,” she added.

Gabrielle said the drama on the show left her feeling like she went through a “public flogging” as she tried “standing in my truth and standing on the side of employee rights and knowing there’s a better way of doing business.”

Her exit from the show sparked an internal investigation at NBC and the production companies Fremantle and Syco Entertainment.

The investigation found that the show “demonstrated an overall culture of diversity,” though it did discover “some areas in which reporting processes could be improved,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
