In the midst of COVID-19 madness, we can all relate to the fact that we’re stuck in the house and quarantining. Now, Gayle King admits to feeling some type of way about being single — something she’s never struggled with in the past.
The CBS This Morning co-anchor host recently appeared on The Talk to open up about how she was feeling being independent during the quarantine. “It’s true, I’m single. Honest to God, guys, I have never minded being single because my life is so full. I get to go to a lot of stuff,” she said. ”I know a lot of great people, so I’ve never minded. I used to look forward to a quiet weekend you don’t have to get dressed. But now that this is it, it feels very, very daunting. Actually very, very scary to me because there’s no end in sight. That’s what’s so troubling about this.”
She went on to discuss how we have no idea when COVID-19 will blow ever, facing the reality of being quarantined for a few more months. “This thing is such a moving target, I don’t even think the experts know when this will be over,” she added.
When asked if she was alone without her children, Gayle brought up the fact that her kids are 32 and 33 years old, and employed in Los Angeles.
But, sitting inside her home in New York, she said, “Just the thought that I don’t even know when I will see them in person is upsetting. I don’t know when Oprah and I will be able to visit is upsetting. So, all the people that I really cherish the most, I don’t know when that’s going to be. That said, you know I sit here and knock on wood, very healthy… it’s sad for me, but people are dealing with a whole lot worse, and I don’t minimize that whatsoever.”
Oprah and Gayle have preserved a very strong friendship for quite some time. Gayle then relayed her feelings about having to report the news to audiences during the pandemic. She revealed feeling a huge responsibility to us, which includes the multiple emails she’s received from strangers and friends.
